First Official Still from The Key Man, New Oranges and Sunshine Poster

Note: This is an archived entry that’s several years old. While I have ensured that all photos are restored, some links may no longer work. If you encounter any dead links, let me know and I’ll try to find a copy of the material. Some entries may not be up to my current standards as far as photo source and other credits are concerned; if you are a photographer or writer of a piece that lacks appropriate acknowledgement, please let me know and I’ll be happy to add source info.

We’ve seen several behind-the-scenes pics from the filming of The Key Man, which Hugo filmed in 2006 and which has been a work in progress ever since. But now we have our first official still from the film, courtesy Occupant Films and the SXSW website:

The Key Man screens three times at SXSW: it premieres 13 March with additional screenings on 15 March and 18 March. Check the SXSW event listing for venues and times.

Oranges and Sunshine debuted its second official poster… Hugo isn’t pictured but it’s a lovely image of Emily Watson as Margaret Humphreys.

Hugo and the film continue to draw praise from viewers who’ve attended early screenings in Sydney and London. You can read reviews at Best For Film, Kid in the Front Row, The Film PilgrimCinehouse UK and the Oranges and Sunshine Facebook page. A few people have even suggested Hugo might get some Oscar attention next year… which of course he’s long deserved, but might finally be possible if this film gets a US distributor and a wide international release after its debut in the UK and Australia. O & S will be screened next week at two film festivals in the UK: the Glasgow International Film Festival (February 25 and 26) and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (February 26).  Director Jim Loach is expected to attend and speak after both screenings. A screening/ director talk at London’s Barbican follows on 30 March.
