Note: this is an archived entry. Some links might not still work, but I have tried to ensure scan and video embeds are still in place. If any linked material is unavailable, please let me know and I’ll attempt to find a copy in my personal archives.
New material keeps pouring in so quickly I can’t keep up, so this’ll probably be a bit disorganized. If anyone read last night’s entry please be advised I’ve added a pair of great Access Hollywood clips to that post, featuring Hugo Weaving and Susan Sarandon discussing their characters. I’ll try to post some caps soon, but meanwhile the new pics and articles keep coming. Here’s a great new image of Hugo at yesterday’s press conference from the French-language site purepeople.com:
They also have some unique pics of the film’s directors, Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon, Jim Sturgess, Bae Doona and Halle Berry.
There’s a review of the film by Jaime Paisley (which I’ll excerpt below as soon as I find time) as well as an account of the SAG Cloud Atlas screening (which featured the Wachowskis, Tom Tykwer and some actors in attendance) and the filmmaker Q & A that has become standard procedure for these events and is building great word of mouth for the film. (Contact Music posted a more succinct, showbiz-themed version of events.) There’s an interview with Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and the Wachowskis on the theme of “eternal recurrence” at Hollywood.com . There’s a new Susan Sarandon interview (with quotes from Hanks and Berry) at the Atlanta Journal Constitutions’s The Buzz. There’s an intriguing article on the hazards and rewards of adapting challenging novels (including Cloud Atlas) for the screen at The Atlantic Monthly. There are more interviews with/profiles of the Wachowskis (based on the recent LA Q&A) at The Los Angeles Times and Hollywood Outbreak. And there’s yet another contest (this time to win swag and movie tickets) at Zay Zay.
I’ll update with any breaking news (and the latest batch of reviews) as soon as I find time. Meanwhile, I hope everyone’s having fun. 😉
“She’s right behind me… isn’t she.” 😉
Here’s a new E! News compilation of video interviews featuring Hugo and Susan Sarandon (did they sit for all their interviews together? That’s going to lead to some mistaken impressions about them sharing any screentime, but has been very fun to watch. I’ll repeat it– someone should cast them opposite each other as leads.) Also: Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw and James D’Arcy, and How Cloud Atlas Could Make You A Nicer Person. 😉
There’s an amusing article about some of the Cloud Atlas cast’s surprising distant relations at The Inquisitr and other sites; if anyone is your family is into genealogy, this will sound amusingly familiar. (Yes, I have some famous ancestors– if you go back about 400 years.) 😉
Latest reviews soon!
